What lies ahead

After a much needed break from Squash and travelling it is now time to get back to work. With the hamstring now better, I take time for some quality training before my first competitive match. Once again, Netherlands is the chosen place for a base as I look ahead to another tour in hope of achieving my goals.

I couldn't complete the minimum of 10 events last year and would be looking to play as many events as possible in the new year. With a much lower ranking than before, I will be entering bigger events in hope of getting in the draw at the same time looking at playing smaller events to gain match practice and ranking points.

The first tournament of the year will be in Scandinavia - either the Swedish Open starting on 1 February, or the smaller sized Finnish Open the week after. I am looking at playing the much smaller sized Austrian Open and will head back to London for the Canary Wharf Classic in March and hope for the Irish Open to be put on its annual slot of the first week of April. The calendar hasn't been finalised for the French events in May and June but considering the popularity of these events last year, I expect to return to Toulouse and Bordeaux this year as well.

Apart from PSA events, I will also be taking part in Dutch, Austrian, English and Italian leagues. With the first match scheduled for 19 January and the last one on the first weekend of June - the European league season is looking busy. Apart from leagues, I will also be playing in some local Squash tournaments within Europe.

But first, its back to training. I look forward to the new year with much anticipation.
